Roles

Roles is the perspective about defining a particular pattern of behavior or position in relation to others during kink activities. To many, the Role is an early and central part of their kink journey -- "Are you a sub or a dom?" may be the most common question asked in kink spaces. Roles goes far beyond that -- the KPI actually tracks over 30 different roles, and most of our respondents select several roles. To kinksters with high scores in the Roles perspective, the roles they choose to take on as well as interact with are one of the most important parts of their kink experience.

Q: Can a Top or Dom be high in "Roles"?

Absolutely! Many tops and doms score high in this category, and they often refer to the thrill of making their partner experience intense sensations or go to headspaces that are unique to their kink pleasure.

Q: My partner and I seem to both want to please each other, what do we do?

Try some "double blind" scenarios (no blindfolds involved, unless you want that)! To do this, each of you should get a form {we have an example on our Supplements page} and fill it out, at the same time. Then, switch them and compare, but talk together to negotiate a new scene that incorporates aspects of what both of you put down.

Q: How is "Partner Pleasing" not just something everyone should do?

There are a wide variety of dynamics in kink, but one important spectrum is giving-receiving. People who are into partner pleasing have an aspect of their kink identity that involves giving to others the experience that other person desires.
