According to tradition, Romans are the descendants of Rhea Silvia, a vestal virgin*, and Mars, the god of war, their ancestors were brought up by a she-wolf.
Perhaps that's why the Romans display their savage wolf-like nature.
*Note: The Vestals or Vestal Virgins were priestesses of Vesta, goddess of the hearth β a sacred eternal flame of Rome. The eternal burning of the sacred fire was a sign that determined eternal Rome.
