Coláiste Mhuire and its surrounding community have long upheld a proud tradition of music. However, in recent years, interest in the subject has declined, and as a result, music has not been offered at Coláiste Mhuire.
In an effort to return the tradition of music we are delighted to announce a new and exciting partnership with Music Generation, made possible through the generous support of local County Councillor Ger Ward.
Recognising the deep well of musical talent in the community, Councillor Ward has been a passionate advocate for reintroducing music education to the school.
Through this collaboration, two qualified music educators from Music Generation will work with CMA students from September into the new year.
Their involvement will provide students with the opportunity to explore, enjoy, and develop their musical abilities in a supportive and creative environment.
This initiative not only revitalises the artistic life of the school but also nurtures a lasting appreciation for music among students, enriching both their personal development and the broader school culture.
CMA extends its sincere gratitude to Councillor Ward and Music Generation for their invaluable support in making this initiative a reality. We look forward to witnessing the positive and lasting impact this program will have on our students and the wider community.
A Launch Day will take place in school on Friday, September 12th. Following the launch, weekly music sessions will be held on Tuesdays after school from 16:00 to 18:00.
