For founder Makeda (@makleahh), the number 27 represents more than just an age. This September 2026 marks her 27th birthday and the fifth anniversary of her annual community giveback campaigns. Since 2021, @makleahh has used her birthday to invest directly in her community through fundraisers, giveaways, and intentional acts of service.
Founded by Makeda in 2025, The Cinderella Project Seattle was created to help young people access the clothing, resources, and support they need to navigate important life milestones with confidence. The 27 Club Creative Initiative represents a return to that mission, expanding our focus to support emerging local artists, performers, and storytellers during a pivotal stage of adulthood.
Makeda's birthday wish: To remove barriers, build confidence, and create opportunities for empowering the next generation of Seattle changemakers through intentional creativity and community investment. Inspired by the film 27 Dresses, Seattle's rich artistic culture, and the power of community mini-revival of The Cinderella Project Seattle through creativity, community investment, and direct support for the next generation of Seattle artists and changemakers ages 18–30.
