Skunk geckos (Gekko vittatus), also known as white-lined geckos, are tropical geckos native to the rainforests of New Guinea and Indonesia. They are a hardy, adaptable species when provided with proper environmental conditions and are best suited for keepers prepared to meet their humidity and temperature needs.

Skunk geckos thrive in warm, humid enclosures with daytime temperatures in the upper 80s°F and humidity levels between 60–80%, mimicking their natural rainforest habitat. Proper ventilation, multiple hiding areas, and climbing opportunities are essential to support both physical health and natural behavior.

As insectivorous reptiles, skunk geckos require a diet primarily composed of appropriately sized live insects, supplemented with calcium and vitamins. A varied feeder rotation helps support long-term health and growth.

Skunk geckos are nocturnal, meaning they are most active during the evening and nighttime hours. Daytime hiding is normal behavior and not a cause for concern in a well-designed enclosure.
