Our Issue

The Situation With Alzheimer's

Currently, 6.5 million people in the United States are affected by dementia, with this number predicted to double by 2050. However, governmental policies and present stigmas limit the amount of help dementia patients receive and therefore present a problem for those with dementia, as well for their loved ones. This problem is not talked about enough amongst governmental agencies and public forums even though it has many far reaching effects. It will be difficult to prevent millions more people from developing dementia later in life, but by bringing attention to this issue we can potentially aid them, as well as their families, with future problems that may arise.

How Our World Portrays Alzheimer's

Our world and its interactions with the curse will help bring attention to the issue that is Alzheimer’s. With the curse causing dementia-like symptoms in Demenian and Xadian citizens, we can allow the audience to experience what people with this condition go through on a day to day basis and how much Alzheimer’s actually affects and alters their lives. We will further use the Demenian and Xadian governments to portray how the United States government is ignorant towards this condition and does not provide as much support and care for their citizens as they should. The people of Demenya reflect this thought through their ignorance of the curse and how little help they provide to their Demenian citizens to prevent or lessen the curse. The opposite will be shown in the Xadian lands, where they do provide support adequate for their citizens, successfully adapting to the curse’s consequences.

What You Can Do

To help provide monetary relief for patient care, a portion of our profit will go to Alzheimer's Association offices across America. We may be young now, but we are preparing for our future too, one where the American government has not failed to fully care for those affected by this disease. We hope our game sparks a flame of action in its players to petition a legislator, write an editorial, or to volunteer their time to raise more awareness of this ever-growing condition.
