The Snorri is a magical bird-like creature that lives amongst the Ents in the Dark Forest. Its sharp features make it a fright in the night and its glowing eyes pierce right through you. The Dark Forest is the part of Xadia that is farthest from the Source so the creatures that live here are often dangerous, including the Snorris. As humans enter the Dark Forest, Snorris are known to fly back and forth spewing nonsense statements that cloud people’s judgements and make them unable to think for themselves. Their high-pitched squeals can make people collapse in turmoil and their glowing eyes can become so bright that people are known to forget whatever they are thinking when they look into them. Snorris are creatures that have been around since the start of Eatura and legend has it that when people enter the Dark Forest they often do not come out the same as they entered because of these mysterious creatures. Snorris are carnivorous, often eating smaller animals and tend to bite their prey and then return to it hours later after they die a slow death. Their sharp beaks help them to peck into their prey’s bodies and are also used to make holes in trees that become their homes.
The Snorri's Screams:
The palustri live among the branches of the dark forest in small family circles. They are larger close cousins of the Snorri, and they are renowned for their unique, infant-like caw. They are omnivorous, feeding both on insects and smaller birds or rodents. Many a traveler has been lured off the road by its cries, never to be seen again. Only a few powerful adventurers have lived to tell the tale. Their stories vary in fantasticality, but all follow the common thread of suddenly being ambushed by a small flock of nightmarish birds with razor sharp beaks, talons, and even feathers. Their eyes vary from deep gold to blazing red, and when attacked, they bleed bright blue acidic blood. The palustri are but one of many dangerous beasts living within Eatura’s dark forest that pose a threat to unaware adventurers.
The Palustri's Caw
The Red Urodela are said to be creatures of magic that live deep within smoldering volcanic mounts, surviving off of volcanic rock, ash, and lava alone. They are created and emerge from lava fully grown at three feet long. As years pass, they grow younger until they become so small that they fall back into the lava and are consumed. Many believe they are soon born again, rejuvenated by the lava. Red Urodela shed their skin as they shrink, and stories exist of these skins being found and ground up to use inside healing elixirs. It is said their skin would reverse the effects of any disease. Legend has it that sighting a Red Urodela is a sign of an imminent volcanic eruption and danger to Eatura.

Memiger
Latin Name: Memorious Tigris
Category: Beast
The Great Forgetful Beast
The Memiger is a large beast that resembles a saber-tooth tiger. It has a snow white coat and lives in the mountains far away from most of humanity. The Memiger also boasts very impressively long fangs that drag on the ground, which they use to stab prey and freeze them, allowing for later consumption. The Memiger is a great hunter and they are fiercely territorial- they will attack those who stray into its territory.
The Memiger is a deeply intelligent creature. Many say they would have the cognitive ability to form a large complex society if not for their crippling memory. The Memiger is not inflicted by the curse as other intelligent creatures are, but already have a memory of about 15 minutes. Everything but base instincts completely fade throughout the day. The Memiger has found a way around this with the magical abilities in their fangs. They engrave everything they find important into the ground and are then able to quickly read it after their memory resets. Despite their memory, they've created a way to instantly relearn who they are, making them a very powerful and dangerous creature.

Memorel
Latin Name: Memorious sporeicus
Category: Fungal Creature
The Bountiful Shroom
The Memorel is a small creature that while mobile has much more in common with its fungal organisms then that of its more animalistic side. It lives in forests all over Xadia and prefers to keep to its dark crevices where there is a lack of light. They are particularly present in the dark forest as well as darkened parts of the fey forest. They live in small communities and often root down into the ground that they inhabit, helping each other to decompose forms of nutrients before moving on. They form nomadic packs where they will go to areas of rich nutrients, form a colony for a short time, eat and reproduce, then move onto the next area of high nutrients. They are capable of also shooting out a poisonous spore which often keeps predators away.
The Memorel however, if treated well, is also able to produce a special spore that helps to calm and heal the mind allowing for relief. While it is not a cure for the curse and the curse will continue to get stronger it does serve as momentary relief for those afflicted with it. Those who are affected by the curse and go into particularly high concentrations of magic which may elevate the effects of the curse are advised to either find or look for memorels to give them food and in return accept their spores in order to help alleviate some of the curse's symptoms.
Moral:
While both our curse and Alzheimer's do not have a cure there are some medicines and steps patients and their loved ones can take towards getting help. Talk to the patient's doctor and see if there's any treatment that can help alleviate the symptoms to make them a more willing and happy participant in society.

The Nonserpens Squall
Nonserpens is a creature with the body of a snake, wings of a bat, and webbed legs of an amphibian. This creature can most commonly be found in wandering the magic forests, in burrows at the base of trees. They have no teeth but can swallow berries found in low-hanging shrubbery which are available year-round due to the consistent climate of the magic forests in Xadia. They can fly for short bursts in times of intense stress, but cannot travel long distances using their wings like bords and bats can. Their sense of sight and sense of smell are both developed. They tend to travel long distances during the day to warm up their cold blooded bodies, but come back to their burrow by night. They do this because their tails secrete their own unique slime trail that can be picked up only by Nonserpens scent. The follow trails back to their burrow. They can also pick up on other Nonserpens trail scents.
These creatures are very friendly and get along well with humans and the magical folk in Xadia. Their natural predators are other larger reptiles, but their flying allows them to escape. Their slime is highly coveted in Demenya because they have unique magical properties. People who have ingested the slime are able to have their own elemental magic for a short amount of time before the effects were away. Poaching these creatures is illegal as stated by the Treaty.
