Promote awareness, funds, and hope premature and sick newborns
Many people don't necessarily understand the concept of NICU even though appoxmenly 1 out of 10 infants are admitted to the NICU in the United States, so I'm going to provide statistics and resources that can hopefully help with your knowledge. In this project, we will be educating others about the challenges every child endures in the NICU with their medical headships and coming up with a conclusion on how to struggle with these young ones.
This statistics was recited by Victoria A. Grunberg, MS, Pamela A. Geller, PhD, Alexa Bonacquisti, PhD, and Chavis A. Patterson, PhD who conducted a resarch of familes that been mentally impact about thier babies in the NICU, they indicated in their article that about 1-15% of infants face constant medical challenges during the time spent in the NICU. Families impacted by these incidents have caused them to experienced many social and psychological side effects, which depend on how the infant's health urgency, accessible assistance, and other factors. Parents with low income often tend to have higher difficulties handling their child, as they are struggling to financially support their child's needs. This demonstrates the importance of fundraising for these children so that families can be better supported emotionally and financially during such a critical time. So by making a campaign where everyone has a chance to contribute, it only benefits the ill babies in the NICU, but also their families.
Many examples showcase this issue with memorable individuals during NICU Awareness Month. This month, celebrated in September, was created to raise awareness for unfortunate children who must spend extended periods in medical care. It's an opportunity to recognize their resilience and raise awareness of the difficulties families face during the NICU stay. I want to share 4 stories of children who were once part of the NICU community and were recognized during NICU Awareness Month for their inspiring journeys.
This child weighed less than one pound when he was born, at just twenty-three weeks. He fought multiple infections and poor lung development during his more than 120 days in the NICU. 'March of Dimes 'told his story as an example to the miracles made possible by NICU care and as a symbol of strength.
This child required a ventilator because she was born with a condition called respiratory distress syndrome. In order to make other families feel less alone, her parents kept a blog during her NICU stay. Later on, she joined a California children's hospital as a NICU ambassador.
Emerson's parents called her their "fighter" because she was born with underdeveloped lungs as a result of a rare prenatal condition. Her story appeared in Graham's Foundation's nationwide NICU awareness campaign.
At 26 weeks, Zion, a twin, was born. Zion survived more than three months in the NICU, but his sibling did not. His story has been used to raise awareness of premature birth and provide reassurance to families experiencing loss.
