The Solution

What can we do to stop the use of this language in our school and community as a whole?

The first step in changing this toxic language is to educate those around us. When it is safe to do so, we should call out those who use these terms and let them know that their words are hurtful, and unacceptable. With the help of our documentary, we are hoping to inform our peers of what these derogatory terms mean, where they originate from, and how they make the Queer community feel. In doing so, we hope that this will strike empathy and consideration in those around us.

SNDA

This campaign is helping with the slurs that are thrown at LGBTQ+ community. The Student Non-Discrimination Act (SNDA) would explicitly prohibit public schools from discriminating against any student on the basis of actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity. Although there have been numerous federal court rulings interpreting the sex discrimination provisions of federal civil rights laws to include discrimination based on gender identity and sex stereotyping, many school districts and the Trump administration continue to fail to recognize the rights of LGBTQ students under Title IX.

The Trevor Project

The Trevor project helps save LGBTQ+ youth who are going through hard times and need somebody who understand and can help them. If you need help visit the Trevor project website.
