Education gives us a knowledge of the world around us and changes it into something better. It develops in us a perspective of looking a life. It helps us build opinions and have the points of view on things in life. People debate over the subject of whether education is the only thing that gives knowledge.
Education began in prehistory, as adults trained the young in the knowledge and skills deemed necessary in their society. In preliterate societies, this was achieved orally and through imitation. Story-telling passed knowledge, values, and skills from one generation to the next. As cultures began to extend their knowledge beyond skills that could be readily learned through imitation, formal education developed. Schools existed in Egypt at the time of the Middle Kingdom.
Formal education occurs in a structured environment whose explicit purpose is teaching students. Usually, formal education takes place in a school environment with classrooms of multiple students learning together with a trained, certified teacher of the subject. Most school systems are designed around a set of values or ideals that govern all educational choices in that system. Such choices include curriculum, organizational models, design of the physical learning spaces(e.g. classrooms), student-teacher interactions, methods of assessment, class size, educational activities, and more.
Informal Education is a general term used for education that can occur outside of structured curriculum. Informal Education encompasses student interests within a curriculum in a regular classroom, but is not limited to that setting. It works through conversation, and the exploration and enlargement of experience. Informal Education is never organized. There are no set formulas or guidelines. Example of informal learning include activities such as teaching your child the alphabet, or how to brush his or her teeth. Informal Education consists of accidental and purposeful ways of collaborating on new information. It can be discussion based and focuses on bridging the gaps between traditional classroom settings and life outside of the classroom.
Education gives us a knowledge of the world around us and changes it into something better. It develops in us a perspective of looking at life. It helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life. People debate over the subject of whether education is the only thing that gives knowledge. The main purpose of education is to open up the mind of students and prepare them to face the world. But unfortunately students think education is getting a degree from a reputed university and landing on a high paying job.
