The Chief of Department is the highest-ranking uniformed member of the New York City Police Department and is responsible for overseeing all uniformed operations citywide. Serving directly under the Police Commissioner, the Chief of Department ensures that departmental policies, operational strategies, and enforcement initiatives are carried out effectively across all bureaus and commands.
