Puzzle

A large logo representing sound is located at the bottom of the image and faces northerly, in the direction of three ear logos (reminiscent of the hearing loop logo). From the ears, a sound wave is reflected towards a microphone.

Behind each ear logo is a different highlighted shape, the left one represents a parabolic rectangle, and the other two are circles of varying sizes.

The third ear also has an arrow pointing to it, suggesting that each ear represents a portal and that the solution is the third one.

The background also resembles a map with some strange shapes in the bottom-left corner and in the center of the left area. The map vaguely resembles a forest and river.

Performing a Google Search for "wave forest river parabolic sound" leads to the Abbots Cliff Sound Mirror. Another Google search for "Abbots Cliff Sound Mirror" shows an image of the actual location (visual resemblance): Sound Mirrors at Greatstone Lakes.

The shapes behind the ear logos match the shapes of the sound mirrors and the background map is revealed to be an aerial image of the Denge Sound Mirrors.

Each of the Sound Mirrors are a portal, but entering the third one (the larger circle), provides a successful input for the media.

It is also important to note that Acoustic Mirror suggests that the location of the most famous acoustic mirror is at Denge, Dungeness peninsula and at Hythe in Kent. These mirrors preceed World War II and the invention of radar and were built as early warning devices around the coasts of Great Britain, with the aim of detecting incoming enemy aircraft by the sound of their engines.

Solution

The passcode to get this Tessera was DengeSoundMirror

Puzzle

The silhouette of the building is matched to the Camera Obscura & World of Illusions in Edinburgh, a tourist attraction with five floors of exhibits.

In 1892 the building was renamed to "Outlook Tower," and was organized into a museum demonstrating a philosophy of planning, which was based on comprehensive surveys of the site, city, and region. The exhibits were installed to convey a progressively broader geographic theme as one ascended the tower — first the world on the ground floor, then Europe, the English-speaking countries, Scotland, and Edinburgh — with the camera obscura itself continuing to project a real-time image of the city at the very top.

In the image, each floor of the image is denoted by a number and the code on the right is composed of five values, each equating to a respective floor of exhibits in the Camera Obscure & World of Illusions in Edinburgh. These can be arranged as:

  • 1 = Wo = World

  • 2 = Eu = Europe

  • 3 = En = England

  • 4 = Sc = Scotland

  • 5 = Ed = Edinburgh

The code:

EnScScEdScScEnWo

EnScEnScEuEdScSc

EnScEdEuWoEdScEu

Transposing the letter combinations into numbers gives:

3 4 4 5 4 4 3 1

3 4 3 4 2 5 4 4

3 4 5 2 1 5 4 2

Which decoded using a Polybius Square gives the result OutlookTower.

Combining the result with the portal name, as suggested by the puzzle image, gives the passcode.

Solution

The passcode to get this Tessera was OutlookTowerCameraObscura

The alternative provided to hacking (going outside) was to submit the portalname as a passcode to retrieve the Tessera media.

The prediction window was 50 minutes

NOTE: The media was retrieved during the Omniscient Archetype puzzle as the solution portal for this puzzle was right next to another Camera Obscura portal, which it just happened to produce a successful passcode input. PAC made the decision to go ahead with the puzzle despite both factions having solved the puzzle before its release, making the win go to the first correct post by either faction.

Puzzle

The image features a large vertical infinity symbol, sitting on a board on a brick wall with arrows denoting east and west and a star shaped object with 1200 written next to it.

There are nine vertical stripes in the image, where the middle one is designated 0. Given the 0 is next to the compass points, this suggests that 0 refers to 0° latitude, also known as the Prime Meridian or Greenwich Meridian line.

The star shaped image and 1200 denotes 12:00 or noon, with the star being a shadow cast by an analemma. The simplest of sundials do not give the hours, but rather note the exact moment of 12:00 noon.

Located along this line is the Greenwich Royal Observatory in London, which features a Noon Mark on its walls that resembles the image. The portal that is the noon mark gives the solution to the puzzle.

Solution

The passcode to get this Tessera was GreenwichNoonDial

Puzzle

The metadata of the image reveals

The image depicts all 13 researchers with their Nemesis counterparts reflected in the pool of water below. They are separated by 2cm.

Identify the imperfection in the symmetry to complete your quest.

Of all the researchers, Hank Johnson is the only one to be misrepresented. The Hank Johnson depicted is Osiris Hank, however, Courier is 1218 Hank Johnson. Thus identifying Hank Johnson as the imperfection to the symmetry (reflections).

The Nemesis runes spell:

SAFDWOTRK,

ZNUDFMJDL

SGIAAAVX

JFJUAHRJT

Which using a Vignere Cipher with the key hankjohnson reveals:

LASTNAMES,

ARCHITECT

The Fleur-de-lis at the top of the image is often represented by French royalty, which suggests France as the location of the portal. The crescent moon reflected in the water could suggest the crescent moon shaped river running through Bordeaux, called the Port de la Lune. Both the Fleur-de-lise and the crescent are present on the Bordeaux coat of arms.

Bordeaux is home to the world's largest reflection pool, called the Miroir d'eau (Water Mirror). The reflecting pool is made of granite slabs covered by 2cm of water, and a system allows it to create mist every 15 minutes (note how the researchers are amidst the mist).

The pool was designed by landscape artist Michel Corajoud, built by Jean-Max Llorca and designed by the architect Pierre Gangnet.

Combining the surnames with the first half of the portal name reveals the passcode.

Solution

The passcode to get this Tessera was CorajoudLlorcaGangnetMiroir
