This page is a summarized overview of my timeline in the process of executing this project.
My project is about obesity in domestic animals, and I planned to organize a web seminar in order to educate dog owners in my school as well as the public about the prevalence and prevention of this issue in Singapore.
Then, I started to do my literature review in order to understand more about canine obesity and how to prevent it. I also conducted a survey on the general public as well as veterinarians to understand both sides of the situation.
After which, I attended a public speaking course online to learn more about how to present my script more effectively.
With my research done and presentation skills learnt, I decided to start crafting my talk, creating a slide show to reflect what I have learnt and for the audience to better visualize my message as I present.
Then, I presented my slides to a small group of friends and gathered feedback for my presentation from my mentors and friends. I even had the honour of video calling an animal nutritionist from the American College of Veterinary Nutrition to look through my script and ask a few questions.
After consolidating their feedback, I made edits to my presentation and ran a second practice run over zoom and gathered their feedback once again. I also contacted my mentor for some feedback.
Finally, on the 11th of July 2020, I held a talk on canine obesity for an audience of 15 people over the online platform Zoom.
After that, I conducted a feedback survey regarding my talk.
Lastly, I consolidated all that I have done for this project and reflected on the journey through this portfolio.
