Tempered Code Ltd ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Thriftly mobile application (the "App").
This Privacy Policy explains what information Thriftly collects, how we use it, when it is shared with third-party service providers, how long it is retained, and how you can request deletion of your account and associated data.
By using Thriftly, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
The information we collect depends on how you use Thriftly.
When you create or link an account, we may collect:
Email address
Display name
Firebase Authentication user identifier
Thriftly account identifier
If you use Thriftly without linking an account, we may create a pseudonymous identifier to provide the service and maintain your app session.
We do not require you to provide payment card, debit card, or bank account information directly to Thriftly.
When you use Thriftly's scanning features, you may choose to take or upload photographs of items.
These images may be uploaded to Thriftly's servers for processing.
Depending on the features you use, we may store information associated with a scan, including:
Item photographs
Item identification results
Item descriptions
Comparable marketplace listings
Estimated market values
Estimated resale prices
Profit calculations
Scan history and related technical information
This information is associated with your Thriftly account while your account exists.
We use the information described above to:
Provide and operate Thriftly
Identify items from photographs
Generate item descriptions and market estimates
Retrieve comparable marketplace listings
Calculate estimated resale values and potential profit
Maintain your scan history
Manage your account
Provide subscription features
Process and synchronize subscription status
Detect abuse and enforce usage limits
Diagnose technical problems and crashes
Improve the reliability and performance of the App
Respond to support requests
Protect the security and integrity of our services
We do not sell your personal information.
Thriftly uses third-party artificial intelligence services to analyze item photographs and information associated with scans.
In particular, Thriftly may send item photographs and relevant scan information to Google Gemini to assist with visual item identification and analysis.
The information sent to the AI service is used to provide the requested Thriftly functionality.
Thriftly does not use your photographs to create a public profile or marketplace listing on your behalf.
Thriftly may use information generated from your scan to search marketplace data and identify comparable listings.
For example, Thriftly may use the eBay Browse API to retrieve publicly available marketplace listing information relevant to an identified item.
Thriftly may send search terms or item descriptions to these services to obtain comparable listings and pricing information.
Thriftly does not send your payment information to eBay for this purpose.
Thriftly offers optional paid subscription features.
Subscriptions are processed through Google Play Billing and subscription information is synchronized and managed through RevenueCat.
Thriftly does not directly collect or store your:
Credit card number
Debit card number
Bank account information
Google Play payment credentials
Payment information is handled by Google Play according to Google's applicable policies.
RevenueCat may process information necessary to manage subscription status, such as an application user identifier, subscription information, purchase information, and transaction-related identifiers.
To help prevent abuse of free usage limits, Thriftly may use a device identifier provided by the Android operating system.
The relevant device identifier is transmitted securely to our backend and converted into a one-way cryptographic HMAC-SHA256 value.
Thriftly stores the resulting pseudonymous value rather than the raw device identifier.
This mechanism is used to help enforce usage limits, such as the availability of a free scan, and to prevent repeated circumvention of those limits.
We do not use this mechanism to track you across unrelated applications.
Thriftly does not use the Google Advertising ID for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Thriftly may use Google Firebase Analytics to collect limited usage information about how the App is used.
Examples of events may include interactions such as:
Completing a scan
Viewing a subscription/paywall screen
Using particular App features
Thriftly may also use Firebase Crashlytics to help identify and diagnose crashes and technical problems.
Crash information may include technical information such as device model, operating system information, application version, stack traces, and other diagnostic information associated with a crash.
These services are operated by Google and are subject to Google's applicable privacy practices and retention policies.
Thriftly does not serve third-party advertising through the App.
We do not use the Google Advertising ID for targeted advertising or cross-application tracking.
Thriftly may temporarily store certain information locally on your device, such as scan history or application preferences, to provide the App's functionality.
When you delete your Thriftly account, the App removes the locally stored scan-history information associated with that account as part of the account-deletion process.
Other device-level information managed by Android or third-party services may remain subject to their respective systems and privacy policies.
We retain account and scan information for as long as necessary to provide the Thriftly service and maintain your account.
When you delete your Thriftly account, we delete the account information and scan-related data associated with your account, including uploaded scan images, subject to the limited exceptions described below.
Certain limited records may remain after account deletion when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or technical purposes.
For example, a pseudonymous device anti-abuse identifier may be retained after account deletion to prevent circumvention of free-usage limits.
Certain technical records, such as webhook event identifiers used to maintain system integrity and prevent duplicate processing, may also be retained after associated personal identifiers have been removed.
Third-party services such as Google Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, RevenueCat, and Google Play may retain information according to their own applicable retention policies.
You can permanently delete your Thriftly account from within the App.
When an account deletion request is successfully processed, Thriftly is designed to delete or unlink account-associated information including:
Your Thriftly account
Email address and display name stored by Thriftly
Scan history
Uploaded scan images
Item identification results
Comparable listings associated with your scans
Valuation and profit calculation data
Thriftly's subscription record associated with your account
Local scan-history data stored by the App
Your Firebase Authentication account is also deleted as part of the account-deletion process.
Some limited pseudonymous or technical records may remain as described in the Data Retention section.
Deleting your Thriftly account does not automatically cancel an active Google Play subscription.
If you have an active paid subscription, you must cancel it separately through your Google Play subscription settings to prevent future subscription charges.
You may also contact us using the contact information below if you need assistance with account deletion.
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed by Thriftly.
Information transmitted between the App and our backend services is protected using encrypted connections where applicable.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
