We live in a world today that's on the brink. We are on the brink of great scientific discoveries that will prolong life and solve the world's greatest mysteries, and on the brink of technological breakthroughs that will change the nature of our work and how society interacts. At the same time, we are also on the brink of doing irreparable damage to the environment, to language discourse, and to the global world order. At this event, which marks our 5th anniversary of TEDxPineCrestSchool, students and scholars will grapple with and explore the brinksmanship that they encounter in their respective endeavors to shed light on the dichotomy of being on the brink.

Jimmy Morales

SEGMENT I

Jimmy Morales serves as the City Manager for the city of Miami Beach. He has nearly 20 years of experience in government as a local attorney, administrator and public servant. He has also served as the city attorney for the City of Marathon and the city attorney for the City of Doral.

Morales graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1987, prior to which he graduated magna cum laude Harvard University and was inducted as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Morales then served as a judicial law clerk, held associate and shareholder positions in several international law firms specializing in corporate and international law, and specialized in municipal law matters. He is also a graduate of Leadership Miami and Leadership Florida programs.

Chris Schortgen is the founder of 100 For All. Chris is responsible for all facets of the business, placing particular emphasis on social impact as 100 For All expands. A graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University, Chris has spent years traveling internationally and through his travels became inspired to build an organization dedicated to combating social justice issues, both at home and abroad.
