For Toc 6 we had a good turn out of 14 people with 3 new for the first time. There was even a few slices of mud cake to enjoy.
We started by reminding everyone to make sure they have security set on their phones when first switched on. All phones with have a PIN or swiped pattern in order to open the home page. Other phones will offer finger print readers and face recognition via the front facing camera. Use whichever is convenient but never set the phone to open on a simple swipe. Never allow your children/grandchildren/relatives/close friends access to your phone without your supervision. The same holds true for tablets and laptops.
Michael demonstrated the use of the highly productive Microsoft Lens app which runs on both Android and Apple phones. Use Microsoft Lens for:
Capture modes:
Whiteboard: handwritten notes, sketches
Document: printed pages, newspaper articles, forms, receipts, posters, recipes and menus
Actions: Text extraction, Table from image, Read out loud, Contact information, QR code
Business Card: create contact on phone
Photo: scenery, people
Several people were able to download the app during the meeting and start experimenting with its many features.
Here's a video that explains the main features in detail using the iPhone version but this works just as well on Android.
A copy of the slides is available.
