With the influence of Easter we were a smaller group of 9. We started by answering queries about WhatsApp and how to add an icon to our home pages that takes us directly to our web site.
Michael showed a use of Artificial Intelligence for the generation of anonymous photos available at the Generated Photos site. Here you can specify characteristics of a face such as head pose, gender, age, ethnicity, eye and hair colour, hair length and emotion. The site then generates artificial faces to fit the specified characteristics. Here are examples of a middle-aged man with blue eyes and grey hair.
These are not real people but the photos can be used as examples for publication.
There is also a facility for you to upload your own photo and the AI produces photos that looks like you but are again anonymous. This is one I chose of myself. Maz very kindly acted as a model as well.
Michael then gave a demonstration of a range of streaming services including iView, 7Plus, 9Now, Netflix, Stan, Prime, Britbox, Acorn, Kayo, Binge and Flash. Mention was made of several others including Apple TV+, Disney+ and Paramount. He pointed out that a fairly fast (25-50 Mbps) Internet service with a generous monthly data plan (preferably unlimited) is needed for reliable service. Being an enthusiastic streamer he uses more than 600 GB of data each month on an unlimited Telstra NBN plan. One benefit of a streaming TV is that it can be located anywhere in your unit and is not tied to a TV antenna point.
