We had a good roll up with 17 in total. For most of the meeting we concentrated on making sure all present were connected to the ToC Wi-Fi, were able to access our ToC site (this one), and had downloaded WhatsApp to join the CGR and ToC groups.
We discovered that our Tricare Assistant Manager Viviane Iyeiri was a big user of WhatsApp. She popped in for a few minutes to tell us how over the last several years she uses WhatsApp every day to keep in contact with relatives and friends both individually and in groups. As well as text and photos, she uses WhatsApp for voice calls and video conferencing both one-to-one and in small groups. Viviane loves the features of the app and how it keeps her in contact with those who matter most to her.
Michael then turned to his slides to talk about WhatsApp Web which allows you to use WhatsApp on your laptop/desktop both Windows and Mac. Run a browser on the laptop and type in the address https://web.whatsapp.com.
Watch the video on that page for instructions on launching WhatsApp on your phone, selecting Link to Device in the Settings menu, and pointing your phone's camera over the QR code on the page.
Note your phone and laptop must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network for this to work. Once connected you can use your laptop to access all the features of WhatsApp. Sometimes people find typing on their laptop much more convenient than on the phone.
We ran out of time and the demonstration of TV and movie streaming was held over to next week. The meeting will be at 10 am in the Lounge on 20 April 2022. Thanks go to Dot for some excellent ANZAC cookies enjoyed by all.
After the meeting we are holding a short Q&A clinic where you can ask one-on-one questions of Michael and others.
