Meeting photo
We had a small group of 7 for Meeting 12.
This was another occasion where we covered topics raised from the meeting attendees. Leonie had asked how she could add a text caption to a photo before sending it to her friends. Today the photo app on most phones allows simple edits to photos you have taken on your phone.
On my Android phone in Google Photos I show some screenshots adding some text to a photo of Clear Island Lake from Robina Parkway.
First tap on the photo you want to change, then tap on Edit.
Next scroll along the tools and tap on Markup then Text.
Enter the text you want and tap the colour, but note the font size is fixed.
Tapping Done centers the text.
Next tap and hold and drag it to bottom left.
Tap on Save copy and it will be added to your photos where you can use your usual method to send by email, text, WhatsApp and so on.
This is fairly limited.
A very similar sequence works in the iPhone Photos app.
Next we looked at the free Snapseed app which is available on Android and iOS.
When you launch Snapseed a big + appears. Tap on it to select the photo to be edited
Tap on Tools to see the large array of tools.
Tap on Text tool when a default text 'Double tap ...' appears. Double tap on it to edit.
Enter your desired caption and tap OK.
As before tap and hold and drag the text to the bottom.
Tap on booklet tool shown and choose from about 50 different text styles, fonts, badges and so on. I choose the simple line L3.
Tap the tick at bottom right, then tap Export to see the set of export features. You can just Save a copy or Share directly to email, text, and so on.
Michael handed out some copies of the Tech over Coffee poster for our noticeboard in the Dining Room. It contains the QR code of our site so new people can point there phone camera at it and go directly to this site. Remember this QR code appears in How To/QR Codes. There are no slides this week.
