Introduction to Quizizz from Quizizz!
Similar web layout to other game-show type websites (Quizlet, Kahoot!)
Game can be played in a self-paced format where time limits do not affect student results
Games can be assigned as Flash Cards so students have material to reference back to for review or study guide creation
Huge set of crowd-sourced quizzes to choose from
Easy to conduct item analysis with real-time data reporting while students complete their Quizizz
Results can be kept anonymous to generate in-class data chats after finishing the Quizizz
Navigate to Quizizz.com and make an account.
If you would like to use your Quizizz as a grading tool or for reporting results to parents, use the Classes link and create classes. Sync to Google Classroom should work for all schools in our complex!
Once you make an account and assign classes, you can click on Explore and search for different quizzes that have been made by other users. You have the option of filtering by grade level and subject area, but many users do not use these filters. A better method would be to preview the questions to make sure they suit your needs.
ALWAYS preview the questions before choosing a quiz!
After clicking on a quiz, there will be three options to assign:
Start a live quiz (Instructor-paced) - "We do"
Useful if you want to walk through a set of problems together and conduct class-discussion after each response.
Start a live quiz (Classic) - "You do" (my preferred option)
Great for a rapid-fire data collection approach. Students can still see their progress as they are working. Teachers can observe response accuracy as students are working and consider how their next instructional steps may change during the quiz. I believe this option results in the least learning time lost.
Asynchronous learning (assign homework) - "You do" (my least preferred option)
Students complete the assignment at home
Once you pick your mode, you can choose many different assessment customizations. I suggest having fun with these and trying them out, but here are a few guidelines you may consider:
Use Classic for formative assessments
Use Test if you are considering it as a graded assignment
Limit participant attempts to "1" so you know who is still working
Power Ups, Redemption Questions, and Extra Life options will limit some of the data analysis if you are planning to use your Quizizz as a quick check for understanding. They will also cause the Quizizz to take longer.
Once you click "Continue" students will be instruction to join a website called "joinmyquiz.com" and enter a code to join the correct quiz.
Suggestion: Turn the timer off. Students rarely get all logged in fast enough. At best, consider using it as a motivator to get them logged on with a name chosen in time.
Click "Start" when all students have joined
While students are working, I prefer to view "Questions" rather than "Overview"
Viewing "Questions" gives me an idea of what students are struggling with or if there is an issue with the quality of the question
Selecting "Overview" often causes students to rush if they sense they are falling behind.
After the Quiz..
Click "Sort by Accuracy" in the Questions tab to organize where students may have struggled the most.
Also pay attention to Avg. Time Taken to see if there is a particular question
These two data points often generate a lot of good class discussion to better understand where students are and what gaps in learning we may need to cover later.
Post-Quiz Options
In Reports, there is an option to assign Flash Cards to students. This is great to leave on your Google Classroom as a study guide/review tool for students to reference on their own.

Gamification is a concept that relates to Quizizz. This 18 minute video is worth a watch
Creating your own Quiz
While it is mostly intuitive, this approach would take more time that simply choosing a pre-made quiz.
Lesson Design with Quizizz
There is an option to create your entire lesson in Quizizz (similar to Pear Deck or Mentimeter)
