Welcome! I am a middle school Instructional Coach and Math and Science Curriculum Coordinator at Wahiawa Middle School. This is my second year at Wahiawa Middle, and to say that it has been a wild (but fun!) journey to get here would be an understatement. Having moved back and forth between California and Hawai'i a few times, I like to joke that I am in my second tour, but I plan to be settled (finally!)
Throughout my teaching career I have taught a wide range of classes and grades: 1st through 12th grade; all disciplines of science and math; EL courses, college prep courses and AP courses. I even taught at math and science at Campbell High School about 10 years ago!
Through all the moves, I discovered that it was as a middle school teacher that I have found my true calling as an educator. As a middle school teacher I have taught primarily science, but I was also a middle school vice principal for one year prior to moving into my current position.
I have always had a passion for technology and how it can be used to make different parts of our life easier. In an effort to dive deeper into that passion, I am currently working on my Doctorate in Educational Technology from Boise State University. My goal is to share my experiences as an educator and encounters with different teachers from around the world to provide insight and potential solutions to others no matter what stage they are at in their teaching journey.
An assistant principal once made the statement above at a staff meeting. I was in my first year as a middle school teacher and it was at that precise moment that I knew that middle school was the perfect placement for me.
Embracing the "immature business" every day!
