About me:
My name is Grace. Raised a classically trained pianist, I have enjoyed playing in pop ensembles and musicals as well. My passion for teaching music occurred around my early teenage years when I was given the opportunity to lead the youth worship team at my church. My desire to genuinely pursue music education was reinforced during the next few years where I would go on to dedicate to practice, rehearsals and performances for my AMEB examinations as well as for my peers’ music HSC performances as a ukelele accompaniment, drummer, pianist, singer and bassist.
I am currently a teacher's aide in a secondary public school, where I support students from grades 7-12 with challenging backgrounds across a variety of subjects including both music theory and practical classes. As a prospective teacher, I aim to inspire and support my students towards musical aspirations as well as the aspiration to become better human beings. I understand the impact of a good teacher, and aspire to cultivate the young person’s lifelong attitude towards learning and sharing music beyond classroom experiences of curriculum-based learning. I endeavour to remain patient and dedicated to my practice in learning from my students and implementing well-rounded and student-centred learning approaches that include music-making that is accessible to them.
