Q. How do I find out what is going on at school?
A. There are a variety of ways for you to keep up to date with what is happening at school. One of the best ways is to check the schools' website at www.freemanpublicschools.org The website is frequently updated and important announcements scroll across the top. On the right-hand side of the page, you will see a button called quick links. When you click on this link, you will find the Falcon Flyer. This is a daily bulletin for the school and it also contains important information. You will also find the school calendar (rschool) under the quick links tab. Consider setting up a facebook or a twitter account and you can follow Freeman Schools and get updated information in this way also.
Q. How do I see my students' classes, grades, and lunch balances?
A. Freeman uses PowerSchool as their information management system. If you click on A Parents' Guide To PowerSchool, you will find information on how to see your students' schedule, their grades, and their lunch balance. PowerSchool is also how we send out parent newsletters and contact parents in cases of emergency. It is really important to provide the school with updated addresses, phone numbers and emails so we can keep you up to date on all pertinent information. Please contact the school if any of your contact information changes so we can update our records.
Q. How do I know what my students' are doing in class?
A. Many teachers have classroom websites. These websites can be found on the Freeman Home Page by going to schools, and then going to either Elementary or Secondary and clicking on teacher websites. Freeman uses a Learning Management System called Canvas for some classes in grades 3-12 so check out the Parent Access To Student Canvas Accounts. You can also contact your child's teacher by using the contact directory.
Q. How does the school notify parents of school closings, emergencies, or changes in the normal schedule?
A. If there is a change to the school schedule or if an emergency arises, the school will usually post something on their webpage. Be sure to check the scrolling banner. The school also uses an automated calling, email, and texting software program called School Messenger. The school can send out messages to various groups and through various formats depending on the situation. It is imperative that Freeman have your correct contact information in order to assure that you receive the messages. Please contact the school anytime you change addresses, phone numbers, or email address.
Q. How can I watch live streaming events at Freeman?
A. Freeman uses a program called StrivTv to stream home events. Please see the article on StrivTv for more information.
Q. How can I get involved with the school?
A. There numerous ways to get involved with Freeman Public Schools. Consider contacting the office to find out more about numerous volunteer opportunities. You could join the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). There are Music Booster and Athletic Booster Organizations that you can join. Freeman has a strong TEAMMATES program and they are always looking for adults to match with Freeman students. Freeman Public Schools is a partnership with the Adams and Filley communities. There is a School and Community Improvement Team that you can serve on. Please contact the school and they can help you get started on getting involved!
