Freeman Public School has implemented the Canvas Learning Management system in grades 5-12. Canvas connects all of the digital tools a teacher uses into one place and is a way for teachers to provide coursework and e-learning opportunities for students. Teachers can post videos, presentations, handouts, assignments as well as many other things for students to access. Students can then log into their account to access this information and complete and submit their assignments online. Please note that not all teachers and not all courses are being published in Canvas right now, but many are! This also allows a student to keep up with what was happening in class if they were ill or absent.
As a parent, you can create an observer account so you can see what assignments your student has completed and what assignments still need to be done. You will not be able to make any changes in the course, but you will be able to observe and monitor the course. To create a parent account, please click on the link below and follow the directions. You may also choose to watch this video (click on link) on setting up an observer account. https://freemanpublicschools.instructure.com/login/canvas Once you are there, click parent of a canvas user. (See image below)
This will then bring up another log in screen. (See image below) You will need your student's user name and password to fill out this portion. Their user name is their firstname.lastname. You will need to ask your student for their password. That's all there is to it and your ready to start observing. Please also note that PowerSchool/PowerGrade is the "official" grade for students and it may vary from the Canvas grade since not all assignments may be in Canvas.
