VOLUNTEERING
PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST REWARDING EXPERIENCES YOU'LL HAVE IN YOUR LIFE!!
Volunteering with our program is a wonderful opportunity for any students or adults who enjoy working with individuals with special needs, or who may need community service hours or are planning to pursue a career in education. Volunteering can be anything from a one day event, to year round! With the number of sports we offer in Team York, we are always in need of coaches and volunteers.
To become a volunteer, there is a process that you will need to go through that includes background checks, clearances, and a few (simple and quick) online 'courses' that you will need to complete. There is no cost to you for this process. The button above takes you to a page that outlines how to get stated. But we are happy to help you through it. If you have any difficulties with the process, or any questions, John Brownson with the Capital Area Region will be happy to walk you through everything. (jbrownson@specialolympicspa.org)
We are always on the lookout for persons interesting in moving into coaching roles. Please consider going through the additional steps in the New Volunteer process that puts you on a path to coaching. You can find details here:
All Volunteers must have created a Record for themselves in the Special Olympics Pennsylvania Portal (see button below), where they will see and manage their credentials. Existing Volunteers who have not "claimed" their records in the new system should contact John Brownson (jbrownson@specialolympicspa.org) or their credentials will not be considered valid.
