My Learning Experience at the University
After gaining admission to the university of Ghana School of Biological Sciences, I wasn’t quite happy, but I had no choice but to accept. I was worried as to how I will go about my stay in the school. I reported to school the second week of re-opening and registration alone was whole stress. I met a few friends from high school as we went around the Chemistry and Physics department in search of our lecture halls. There comes a new week and classes begin,
On Monday morning, my first lecture was Chemistry. I couldn’t write any notes as the lecturer was moving very fast and I wondered if this is how it is going to be till the end. Lecturers were not giving slides, and relevant books could not be found on the library shelf making studies hard for me and I even regret coming to school. I had to adopt a model of studying through online YouTube videos, at least, it was quite helpful. My daily routine was kind of boring, from hostel to lectures, from lectures to the library and the cycle was continuous. I couldn’t put up with the stress, so I joined the debating club, and it was quite a relief, I developed the habit of reading and watching documentaries as well as reading trending news every morning. Suddenly, there was an outbreak of a new virus (COVID-19) which was known to be infectious hence the school had to be closed down to prevent a wider spread of the disease as the numbers kept on increasing day in and day out. As the weeks were approaching the school decided to continue with online studying through Google Teams, Zoom and well as student platform (Sakai). This new approach was a bit challenging as I kept on battling with my internet connection. Everyday news seems to be a heartbreak, there was no sign of returning to school. In a way, I was excited because I spent so much time with my family, and it was fun.
A year after, the school reopened, and we were introduced to a six (6) weeks modular system of studying. Imagine putting up thirteen (13) weeks of activities in six (6) weeks, it was the worse semester, but I did my best as usual. I couldn’t go back to the debate club because of the limited period, and I didn’t want anything to weigh me down.
My third year on campus has been a better sweet experience, but all the same, God has been good to me. I can pull through every challenge that comes my way and still hope for the best.
MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GHANA
A Reflective Summary of a novel "The selection" by Kiera Cass.
This book talks about a girl known as America Singer who was persuaded by her family to marry a prince even though she had someone in mind.
I chose this book because the content was built on a real-life situation. I learnt from the story that, in choosing a life partner, you should look out for someone that can be supportive and not depend on love because the love can fade away if the person is not able to provide for your needs. Also, we should always listen to our parent advice for they know best.
