Land Overview

Backstory

In 1899, as thousands of prospectors were trekking across Canada and Alaska in search of gold, this off-the-beaten-path town of Yukon Valley has more to it than meets-the-eye. Following a winter avalanche, the town has been cut-off to the Yukon gold rush route. The settlers of Yukon Valley prepared their food allotments well, so they have enough food to survive on until the late spring--between the fish they can catch in the frozen bodies of water, the fresh meat they have access to, and the cocoa/pancake/waffle shipments that were delivered in the fall. As the prospectors try to survive harsh weather and wild animals, they come to realize that there is history about 10,000 years old involving the indigenous people. Yukon Valley happens to be the first place in Alaska where oil commercial oil production is taking place--something that is both a point of pride but also a challenge to nature.

Land Entrance

There are three ways of accessing Yukon Valley via foot. The first is a pathway from Seasons of Fantasy. The second is a pathway from the Port Voyage hub. The third is a pathway from Adventure Atoll.

Guests may also access Yukon Valley through the Disneyland Aeronautics, which is discussed in the Attractions section.

Land Layout

Guests coming from Port Voyage will first travel through downtown Yukon Valley, which is home to many of the land's restaurants and shops. Looming large off to the left of the town is Ice Mountain, home to one of the major attractions for the land. As one passes through the downtown, they catch sight of the Rivers of the North, which is the town's may way of accessing the coast. Between the mountain and the river, the oil rig commands attention as a man-made structure.
