The Wandering Hearts Saloon

Such as often is the case with men rushing to new frontiers; they often find a need for uh... a companion to uhhh... entertain them in their free time. Miss Hart left the town of Tumbleweed and headed north to Yukon Valley with her piano man, Sal, and a handful of show girls in search of new opportunities. Miss Hart soon opened her own saloon up in Yukon Valley providing daily entertainment along with warm drinks to lift any spirit.

Exterior

The exterior is modeled after the historic Red Dog Saloon in Juneau, Alaska. An awning wraps around the front of the building. Above the awning a large wooden sign proudly declares this building as Wandering Hearts Saloon. Above the sign in the facade's second floor, printed on the windows is the Yukon Valley Gazette suggesting that the local newspaper is located above the saloon. In those upper windows type writers and desks can vaguely be seen.

On the porch of the restaurant, stemming into the guests pathway from a wooden beam, is a sign depicting a heart with showgirls doing the can can on it. A small counter service window is to the left of the entrance to the saloon vending the best selling drinks from within the saloon out in the streets for patrons. The main entrance is demarked by a red archway with hearts carved into the sides.

Interior

The interior of the restaurant is demarked by the large seating floor set up with tables and chairs centered around a stage in the back of the building. To the left of the seating area is the ordering area and bar of the saloon. The walls around the saloon are cluttered with photos, knick knacks, awards, and news clippings that have been awarded to Miss Hart, her family, and her saloon over time. From these small details guests will be able to learn about Miss Hart's upbringing, her many many MANY past loves through a variety of broken hearted love letters, and the various dancers and the piano player who play on the stage.

Show Description

Songs will be rewritten to fit within the fitting of Yukon Valley and The Wandering Hearts Saloon. When the show is not occurring guests can hear various ragtime tunes played in the background.

Throughout the day guests in the saloon are delighted by a show hosted by Miss Hart. She brings out Sal who quickly sits at the piano to play Hello Everybody which is sung by Miss Hart and Sal. Miss Hart makes a flirtatious remark to some burly looking husband in the audience, telling Sal to keep an eye out for him. Miss Hart and Sal begin to sing Hello Everybody, and as that song comes to an end Miss Hart begins to sing Yip-l-Addy-l-Ay in a comedic vaudeville number.

Miss Hart bids farewell to the stage and reminds patrons of the saloon to treat her girls nice. Before the showgirls are able to take to the stage Sal sings and plays The Gang that Sang “Heart of My Heart” to help pass the time. This begins a succession of three showgirls to appear each singing their own distinctive song. Frost is the first showgirl to perform singing I Wanna Be Loved by You to the audience as she flirts a bit with the audience and Sal. Coco is the next showgirl out who performs a heartbroken rendition of Cry Me a River the beauty of the song likely to bring a tear to many of those sipping on their drinks in the audience. Following Coco is Bimbles who performs Let Me Be Good to You, and halfway through the song Bimbles tears off her skirt to perform the can can with the help of her showgirl sisters who had a quick change off stage.

The three showgirls go backstage as Sal passes the time until the grand finale performing Put On Your Old Grey Bonnet. Miss Hart reappears on stage welcoming everyone for coming to her salon and reminds them to try some of her meemaw's famous sweet tea and the house's specialty hot chocolate. As she is about to leave the stage she performs one last song Goodnight, But Not Goodbye. The showgirls appear once more to help perform this song and give this show a great and fun close!
