The Mentorship Pod Program (MP²) helps teachHOUSTON students build lasting connections through peer-to-peer support. Whether you’re new to the program or a returning mentor, MP² is here to help you grow, share advice, and succeed together.
For more information, feel free to reach out to our Director of Mentorship, Aaron Mushtaq, at thssmpp@gmail.com.
Launched in Fall 2020 by the teachHOUSTON Student Society, MP² began as a small pilot program of 35 students. Since then, it’s grown into a key part of our community, officially recognized in the Society’s constitution in 2021.
Mentors and mentees are grouped into pods of 2 mentors and 1–2 mentees. Pods meet weekly for 30 minutes (virtually via Teams or in person) for 8 weeks. Weekly topics include lesson planning, course scheduling, goal setting, and other relevant subjects. Mentoring pods are not limited to these weekly topics- pods are encouraged to discuss any subject that mentees will find valuable to them.
Three to four times a semester, pods come together for fun socials! These casual hangouts help mentors and mentees from different pods connect, play games, and relax.
