Judge Registration Deadline: April 2, 2027
Score and Comment on Your Assigned Exhibits in the Judge's Portal from Monday, April 5 Until Monday, April 19 at 6 PM EDT
By agreeing to judge, you must keep all student materials confidential and evaluate privately.
Do not share any materials you receive—they are for assessment only.
After submitting scores, delete any downloaded materials.
Do not post comments, "likes," or any designations about the exhibits on YouTube or other social media.
Now that you have selected exhibits, you can start evaluating them through your Judge's Portal (See Figure 1). A couple of pointers:
Review the Judging Rubric, Judging Overview Video, and/or Judge's Guide before you start
Please check your inbox, spam, or junk folder for the link to your Judge's Portal. Didn’t get the link? Contact the Judges Committee at Judges@DiscoveryCtr.org or 845‑621‑1260 x‑402 ASAP!
Bookmark the Judge's Portal URL for quick access.
Set aside time to review, evaluate, and score your assigned exhibits by Monday, April 19, 6:00 PM EDT.
Your personalized Judge's Portal puts everything in one place — videos, documents, scoring form, and all content for your assigned exhibits.
You can save scores and comments as drafts, then return later to submit final scores.
Review the dropdown instructions (See Figure 2) at the top of the Judge’s Portal before you start, which include:
11-point scale descriptors with rubric guidance
mandatory scoring rules
matching judging criteria with student questionnaire responses
where to report broken links or media problems.
The Judge’s Portal will greatly simplify and amplify your judging experience!
The top of your Judge’s Portal shows assigned project count and scoring progress.
Each assigned exhibit appears in its own section.
Some selected exhibits may be replaced or removed to balance workloads; others may be added based on your expertise and preferences.
Each exhibit section (See Figure 3) includes:
assignment number, ID, title, and category
a blue button to view Student Questionnaire Responses
a red Evaluate Exhibit button to submit your scores and comments
buttons for supplemental resources (poster/slideshow, video, AI Use Logbook, photos, diagrams, etc.)
Please report any broken links or trouble with videos to Janice Newman at JNewman@DiscoveryCtr.org
Clicking the red Evaluate Exhibit button opens a pop-window with the Scoring Form (See Figure 4)
The pop-up has scoring fields for the five criteria and a comments box for feedback; expand it from the lower-right corner, if needed
Drag the evaluation pop-up window by its upper-right corner to keep it visible while reviewing
Score each criterion 0–10 (whole numbers only)
Don’t leave any scoring fields blank — the system won’t let you finalize until all scores are entered
If you enter decimals or numbers outside 0–10, you’ll get an error, and you must re-enter your scores in the range of 0–10 (whole numbers only)
Click the orange Save Draft button to save your progress and return later
Click the red Final Submit button to finalize your evaluation
Click the Cancel button to return to the Judge's Portal page without saving or submitting
After saving or submitting, wait 5–10 seconds for the page to refresh and update your submission
When you return to the Judge’s Portal, each assignment shows its status (See Figures 5 and 6)
Exhibits with unfinished work show a red Resume Evaluation (Draft) button
Exhibits not yet started show the red Evaluate Exhibit button.
Save often to keep draft scores and comments.
Submitted evaluations are final.
Completed evaluations show a green "Evaluation Submitted" button (See Figure 6)
Other exhibits will show Evaluate Exhibit or Resume Evaluation (Draft) options.
The submission history at the bottom (See Figure 7) lists each submitted exhibit with ID, draft/final status, submission dates, scores (Creative Ability, Scientific Thought, Thoroughness, Skill, Clarity), and comments. The submission history helps you track your judging activity.
Quick links at the bottom give access to the Judge's website, Judging Rubric, Judge's Guide, Judging Overview video, live help agent, and contact info to support you throughout the process.
A green progress bar at the top (See Figure 8) shows the percent of exhibits you've finalized (e.g., 2 of 8 = 25%).
Wait a few seconds after saving or submitting for the progress and history to update.
