Tulsa Council of Parent-Teacher Associations was founded in 1917 and is defined of 45 local PTA units organized under the authority of Oklahoma PTA and operates under bylaws approved by the state congress. In general, TCPTA provides services to local units and addresses needs which are larger than can be met by a local unit:
helps build stronger, more effective units
provides leadership training and leadership opportunities for local unit members. Encourages local unit members to attend Oklahoma and National Conventions.
Acts as a coordinating body to promote communication and cooperation among its member units
Engages in community wide projects
A link through which local PTA's can work on projects beyond the scope of single unit
A channel of communication by relaying information, instructions and news from Oklahoma and national PTA to local PTA units in its membership. It alerts local units to Oklahoma and national plans and help them translate these plans to programs and projects to serve the community.
As the council we can provide an opportunity for local units to exchange ideas and plans and to solve shared problems through meetings and workshop, for study groups to work on areas of interest, strength to unify planning efforts to solve community-wide problems affecting children and youth, and instinctive and assistance for local unit participation in such activities as health/welfare programs, the reflections program, legislation, and advocacy, culture diversity, culture arts, newsletters and publicity.
Council helps each local unit to learn apply good PTA practices and National and Oklahoma policies and resolutions, increase it's capacity for service to home, school, and community, and keep informed on educational and health-related developments, research, and legislation affecting children.
Making every child's potential a reality.
The PTA is
A powerful voice for all children,
A relevant resource for families and communities, and
A strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child.
To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community and place of worship;
To raise the standards of home life;
To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth;
To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth;
To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social and spiritual education.
We are looking for motivated delegates who are wanting to move up the PTA chain, and be apart of the Tulsa Council of PTA's board. We are revamping our leadership and making it open to all who are interested in any of the available positions. Self nominate
