This year, 2025-2026, we are using a new community service form that the school has provided for us. Now, you are not required to write a pre-approved essay. The community service form is used to track your community service hours for the Bright Futures Scholarship. OCPS policy is that you must do this before the volunteer events to track your hours for Bright Futures Scholarship. If you have not done this yet please follow the "What To Do" below. You can still sign up for events if you have not had your community service plan signed and you will still receive points, just not hours.
Step 1:
Open the Community Service Plan on the school's website. You can also pick it up in the guidance office. The link to the PDF is also at the bottom of these instructions.
Step 2:
Fill out the Community Service Site information:
When you see the questions listed from 1-9 in a table, put all the answers as NO.
The social issue I will address: Healthcare
How will you address the social issue selected above: This has to be in your own words, but you can talk about the many opportunities we offer. We volunteer at medical walks for things such as brain cancer, arthritis, and Down syndrome so that we can inform people about the disease, highlight awareness about the disease, and raise money to find treatments. We help out at Clean the World so that we can assist third-world countries with getting adequate sanitary supplies to improve hygiene and health.
Parent/Guardian Signature: Your parent/guardian's signature
Student Signature: Your signature
This form was completed PRIOR to starting the associated community service hours: Yes
The proposed community service project has been approved: Yes
Step 3:
High School Community Service Designee Signature: Give the Community Service Plan with the essay to Mr. Aliberti in the College and Career Center/Guidance to verify.
Step 4:
Start logging your hours
Step 5:
Signature of Contact: Get Mrs. Stevens' signature whenever you see her. You can get a digital email of her approval. This is for Signature of Contact.
