Our History
In November 2015, community members came together to respond urgently to the murder of Jamar Clark by the Minneapolis Police Department. TCC4J began in the weeks following November 15, 2015, during the 18-day occupation of the Fourth Precinct. After the occupation, local activists and community members recognized a need to continue the work and gather people around the fight against police crimes. We have been honored to uplift Jamar’s name all these years, and we will continue to fight for justice for Jamar and all stolen lives.
Since 2015, the scope of our work has evolved. We extend our solidarity to everyone who is fighting for police accountability in our community. We believe the fight against police terror and crimes must have a multi-national, working class approach which unites the Black Lives Matter movement and everyday working people in the community.
Jamar’s story inspired us to launch the fight for community control in Minneapolis, and we expect to put CPAC on the ballot in Minneapolis this November. We also stand with our Palestinian siblings against genocide, knowing that Israeli Occupation Forces train murderers like Derek Chauvin.
Our organization has always had queer and trans leaders, and we fight for justice for LGBTQ people and against racism and police abuses within the LGBTQ community.
Twin Cities Coalition for Justice is a member of the People's Action Coalition Against Trump, the Free Palestine Coalition, and the Taking Back Pride Coalition. We are the Minnesota Chapter of the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression.
