Targeted Misting for Dairy Cattle

Misting systems are used globally in the dairy industry to reduce losses in production due to heat stress in cattle. The estimated economic loss due to heat stress in the U.S. dairy industry is up to 1.5 billion dollars annually. Misting systems currently utilized apply water in general zones wasting water and energy. We created a more efficient misting system by targeting individual cattle, detecting environmental factors, and applying water more directly to decrease water and energy use.
