"The Standards for the Teaching Profession are made up of six standards that provide holistic descriptions of what high-quality teaching practice looks like and what it means to be a teacher in Aotearoa New Zealand. They support teachers to identify and develop high-quality practices in their settings."
I have used the Standards as a framework to guide my development as a teacher. During my initial meeting with my PRT mentor, I set 3 attainable goals for myself to help me embody each of these standards in my practice. To break each standard down into just 3 goals might feel a bit trivial, as of course they encompass much more than that. However, these goals were a way for me to track my own progress and development across the last 2 years in a similar way to our school PGC growth cycles. I aim to continue achieving and setting new goals for myself throughout my career.
