We made the "mistake" of taking a test drive...
Back in August of 2018, we went for a test drive of two Tesla cars down in Natick MA. We tried out a Model S and the brand new Model 3 - it was the first week they had one available for test drives. Looking at the picture, Sean looks "really upset" sitting in the drivers seat. While Tanya completely loved the Subaru WRX we had, she agreed to give these electric cars a try. The test drives were so much fun, we placed a Tesla Model 3 on order that same day.
If you would like to take a test drive yourself, simply head to the nearest Tesla showroom, or visit: https://www.tesla.com/drive
2023 Update: We stopped by the showroom in Natick, just about 5 years after we had ordered. I did my best to recreate the original pic of Sean in the driver's seat of a red Model 3. At this point, he can drive all of our fleet, including our M3P.
As soon as we got back to the showroom, we place an order for a Performance Model 3. Tanya chose the stunning Metallic Blue color, and opted for the white interior option. Having regretted not getting the higher performance STI option when we had purchased the WRX 6 years prior, I pushed for the Performance version with the additional Performance Upgrade Package which includes the 20" wheels, monster Brembo brakes and a carbon fiber spoiler, which at that time was an additional $5k over the performance option.
As we had ordered early, and we used Dean Kamen (owner of the company where I work, owner of roadster #14) as our referral, we got the "Free Supercharging for Life" option. It means we can use any of the Tesla supercharger stations at no (additional) cost to us while we are traveling. Also, an incredible bonus in late October 2018, Elon announced that they would not be charging extra for the Performance Upgrade Package (a $5k option) and the price of the white interior had been reduced by $500 - Thanks for the $5,500 Gift Elon!
