My Statement:

The state board interviews today focused on the portrait of a learner and implementing strategies to get kids to read by 3rd grade. I have done a deep dive into the pacing guides, standards, and modules just out of curiosity.

-so I looked at grade 2 language arts standards-Module 1 that started on the 1st day of school.

Writing prompt: Write a story about something you have done to make the world a better place.

Rubric: effective, consistent use of a variety of transitional strategies, logical sequences of events from beginning to end, effective opening and closure for audience and purpose

-effective use of sensory, concrete, and figurative language language clearly advance the purpose

-effective use of a variety of narrative techniques that advance the story or illustrate the experience

These are 2nd graders? Our school started map testing practically on the 1st day of school, so no wonder the kids don’t like school.

We test them to death and then bore them to death with topics like this. Just take a look at the expectations of these young learners please.
