Cantabria大学のPablo Albella教授との共同研究の成果がNanophotonicsに掲載されました。本研究では、シリンダー形状の誘電体内部に光圧ナノモーターを作製することにより、直線偏光照射では面内方向での運動を、ベッセルビーム照射では面直に押す方向と引く方向の運動を独立に駆動可能にしました。これにより、従来の2次元運動の駆動に限られていた光ナノアクチュエータを3次元へと拡張することに成功しました。

Glasgow大学のPaula博士研究員とKadodwala教授との共同研究の成果がNano Lettersに掲載されました。本研究では、構造化光を用いて、プラズモニックキラルナノ構造の光学活性をリアルタイムかつ非接触で動的に制御する手法を提案しました。 スピン・軌道角運動量を持つ光渦ビームにより、通常励起されない多重極子モードを選択的に励起し、二色性応答を可逆的に変調することに成功しました。 熱・機械・化学的刺激に依存しないこの技術は、高速・高効率なナノフォトニクス応用に新たな可能性を拓きます。

光と物質との相互作用における光のスピン角運動量(SAM)と軌道角運動量(OAM)の保存則を理論的に導出した研究がPhysical Review Researchに掲載されました(北大プレスリリース)。従来のSAMとOAMの保存則はゲージを固定する必要性から横波成分のみに限られており、縦波を伴う物質系には適応できませんでした。そこで、電場と磁場の微分項を用いたSAMとOAMに着目することにより、横波と縦波を含めた物質系を伴うSAM保存則とOAM保存則を世界で初めて導出することに成功しました。これにより任意の光と任意の物質との相互作用に伴うSAM-OAM変換を定量的に解析することが可能なり、光の角運動量が関与する新奇現象の解明や新しい原理に基づくフォトニックデバイスの創出が期待されます。
