Business Policies Talking Hands Massage Therapy
Cancellation policy
Pay a $25 fee if cancellation is within 24 hours. This fee applies to no-shows as well. Why?
Oftentimes 24 hours is not enough time to fill an empty session time slot. This fee also covers a pool rental fee for reserving the facilities necessary for Aquatic Therapy.
*Exception for weather inclement and emergencies.
Late policy
A massage therapy session shall start and end on time. Why?
To ensure that every client receives fair time for their session. Up to 20 minutes late then considered canceled (see fee above). No reduced fee for shortened session time.
Sick policy
Reschedule when sick. Why?
The close proximity to clients during massage increases the spreading potential of pathogens. If the LMT becomes sick, this negatively affects other clients and integrity of the massage mission to promote wellness and reduce harm.
In addition, receiving massage may increase or worsen symptoms due to its effect on the circulation. Your immune and lymphatic systems are activated and working hard during an active infection or acute illness, including the common flu and allergies.
Price policy
Price listed is due at the time of appointment. If unpaid for any reason, booking future appointments will be declined until previous session(s) are paid in full. Tips are not expected.
Accepted payments are
Cash
Check
Credit card (additional processing fee of 3%)
Hygiene policy
Please arrive without smells such as
cigarette smoke,
essential oils,
perfumes/colognes
to reduce irritants in the massage environment. Also whenever possible, arrive with clean, intact skin to reduce spreading germs and increase ease with use of lubricant during a massage.
For Aquatic Therapy, be prepared to shower off any lotion/oil/sunscreen/hair products beforehand, avoid eating for at least 30 minutes before your session, and remove any loose or precious jewelry during the session.
Non-discrimination policy
Talking Hands Massage Therapy strives to not discriminate on the basis of race, color, age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, political or religious beliefs, veteran or disability status, marital or familial status, pregnancy, ancestry, nationality, ethnicity, nor any other category that is protected by federal law or other applicable laws and regulations.
Talking Hands Massage Therapy also provides reasonable accommodations within the working space whenever possible.
Zero tolerance policy
Zero tolerance for sexual topics, advances, innuendos, or contact. This is a violation of licensing laws and ethics via Oregon Board of Massage Therapy (OBMT). Immediate termination of session and future bookings.
Professionalism policy
The dynamic between the LMT and client is a paid, professional relationship centered around the therapeutic intentions (AKA session goal) for each massage session. Therapeutic intentions can be as specific as reducing restrictions for forward shoulder range of motion or as general as stress relief. When a therapeutic dynamic is not being met, the client or LMT may terminate the professional relationship.
You can expect to conduct all communication and contact in a professional manner:
Communication will be done during office hours and related to the session.
Communication will be designed to ensure that you feel comfortable and supported in order to meet your therapeutic goals.
Communication is a two-way street-- please speak up about your comfort needs at the moment. This will help me modify so I am meeting you in a supportive way for your session goals.
Contact during a massage session will include appropriate draping, only the area being worked on will be uncovered. Oregon law requires draping to cover the groin, gluteal cleft, and breast area to always be covered during a massage therapy session.
Contact during an Aquatic Therapy session will include main areas of under the head, back, hips, and knees while being clothed in swimwear.
You reserve the right to adjust the flow of or stop at any given time. (Yes, you should pause the massage to use the bathroom!)
