I joined the Graduate School of International Cultural Studies at Tohoku University in 2023. Before then, I worked for two years (2021 to 2022) at Waseda University in the faculty of science and engineering, center for English language education (CELESE). My research interests include a wide range of topics related to second language (L2) vocabulary acquisition, instruction, and assessment. My research has investigated the following topics: How is L2 spoken vocabulary knowledge acquired? How does different qualities of input (e.g., frequency of exposure, input variability, and mode of input) affect L2 vocabulary learning? What is the relationship between written and spoken vocabulary knowledge? To what extent is vocabulary knowledge associated with L2 speaking proficinecy (e.g., pronunciation, oral fluency, and spoken lexical use)? To what extent is vocabulary knowledge associated with L2 listening comprehension? How is vocabulary learned incidentally and intentionally? How should we measure productive vocabulary knowledge? What is the role of vocabulary learning strategies? How is phraseological knowledge (e.g., collocations) related to L2 speaking proficiency? How does students' vocabulary knowledge affect their academic performance in English-medium instruciton (EMI)? and so on.
