Nakamas' house
2024 , JAPAN , Kagoshima
A renovation project for a traditional house over 100 years old. Based on the concept of “maximizing the use of what is already there to sustain the building and grounds effortlessly for the next 100 years,” the main house was converted into an office, the stone warehouse into a tenant space, the stable into a community hall, the vacant lot into fields, a kiln site, and a BBQ area, and the air-raid shelter into a bar. By opening the site to the community and linking each facility in a chain-like relationship, a sustainable system for self-sufficient operation was established.
