TIKANLU Festival
*TIKANLU is a cultural heritage-based festival that focuses on the intangible heritage on how to cook native rice cake delicacies such as TInubong, KANkanen and LUbi-lubi. A festive celebration geared to underscore the significance of highlighting Tagudinian's ingenuity and Tagudin's rich cultural heritage within the context of its unique traditional rice cake delicacies, Tagudin-Orig Tinubong, Kankanen (tupig, sinan-suso, puto, inkiwar, etc.) and Lubi-lubi. In highlightinh our cultural heritage, Tagudinians will be able to claim a shared history, valuing what they have experienced together, cherishing a past that has made us ONE Tagudin.
The 1st TiKanLu Festival was held on April 24 to May 6, 2005. Rice cake delicacies are shared by the community during the TiKanLu unveiling ceremony as part of the grand opening salvo after the civic parade. This year 2019, the festival is now on its 12th year anniversary. Tagudin is known for its sumptuous rice cake delicacies available all year round at the public market. The creation of the said festival in 2005 led to the economic growth of the municipality and as a manifestation of such, it has been instrumental in the reclassification of Tagudin from 4th class in 2004 to a bracketed 1st class in 2010 as certified by the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF). In order to boost more the economic potentials of the town, the local chief executive at that time relocated the public market along the national highway making the said rice cake delicacies available to the motorists and tourists as well.
Several activities are held during the stretch of the festivity such as Tagudin Idol singing contest, Binibining Perlas ti Amburayan, Agro Eco Tourism Trade Fair, Fiesta Ti Baybay, Basketball & Volleyball Tournament, Grand Ball & Coronation Night and among others.
