PINAKBET
Pinakbet is definitely the food Ilocos is known for, but if you ask locals if they’d rather have pinakbet or dinegdeng as their last meal, I’m sure they’d prefer the latter. Unlike pinakbet whose ingredients are pretty much the same in every household, dinengdeng’s ingredients can vary depending on what is available in the market. With dinendeng, you can have vegetables, seaweed, wild mushroom and fish in one serving! However, this doesn’t mean dinengdeng is easy to cook. It takes mastery of cooking the right amount of bagoong into the soup to make it takes like perfection.
PATUPAT
Patupat is a native sticky rice Ilocano delicacy. It's much like the other glutinous rice made as snacks or desserts like suman and tupig but on a different form and preparation.
TINUBONG
Tinubong is a delicacy found all throughout the Ilocos Region. The name is derived from the container “tubong,” which the inter-node of a bamboo.This sweetie is generally made of grounded glutinous rice, sugar, coconut milk, coconut strips and other ingredients that are inserted in the tubong. Other people add innovative ingredients like cheese, rum, ground peanuts and many more. Way back the early days, locals cook it using charcoal, but since this resulted into burnt bamboo that sometimes makes mess people shifted into using an oven.
EMPANADA
The name EMPANADA is derived from Spanish word meaning to wrap and coat in bread and this is the most popular street fare in ILOCOS NORTE / ILOCOS SUR and is among the best meriendas in ILOCOS SUR. This crispy thin shell is filled with longanisa, bean sprouts and egg.
NILUPAK
Nilupak is a Filipino sticky rice cake prepared by mashing and pounding sweetened cassava. It gives a soft and creamy feeling with hints of love and sweetness. This kakanin is usually topped with grated cheese which compliments the sweetness of the soft rice cake. It is commonly eaten as a midday snack or an afternoon dessert. One bite of this soft snack will melt your heart and will leave you wanting for more.
CALAMANSI JUICE
Calamansi Juice is made of freshly squeezed calamondin juice and simple syrup. This Filipino-style limeade is tangy, refreshing, and a delicious way to keep cool all year long!
