During the faculty partner meeting, there were suggestions of accountability that went beyond planning observations or meeting a criteria list. Faculty suggested creating a community similar to JMU's Center for Faculty Innovation to discuss the experiences of teaching for that semester and what is or isn't working for them.
For accountability to become attainable, JMU students, faculty, and the General Education Council will collaboratively participate in the following:
● Student Advisory Board will work in coalition with faculty members from other disciplines in a multitude of ways, as mentioned in the Student Advisory Board section. Because the TAG initiative is student-centered, it's important that students have meaningful opportunities to engage with and provide feedback to professors. Students are affected by the classes, so not involving students would exclude an important population of the JMU community. This is an unique experience, because it offers the faculty member a student perspective while also being aware of the TAG initiative's intentions and objectives. They'll provide critical feedback to the professors and develop relationships with them, as well.
● Depending on the schedule of their courses, faculty members will be expected to engaging in ongoing learning, updating modules and syllabi every two years. Reflection and reiteration will keep faculty members updated on changing concepts and language and provide ways to improve their teaching.
● Faculty members who have completed the training are expected and encouraged to attend recurring faculty cohort meetings. These meetings would be designed to be a safe space for faculty members and an opportunity to problem solve, reflect and effectively communicate in a group setting.
