Touch for Health began in 1970 when Dr. John Thie decided to share with the public a method for improving the body's energy flow. His goal was to teach many people a health method to enhance and maintain their own health as well as that of their family and friends.
Touch for Health uses muscle reflex testing to identify the state of the body and mind as well as energy blockages. It improves physical and mental balance, drawing out the natural healing power and potential inherent within each person. It contributes to stress reduction, enhanced learning ability, and improved subconscious awareness.
Many people are not medically diagnosed with illness but suffer from being in a “pre-illness” state, or experience persistent low moods and easy fatigue for no apparent reason. Touch for Health alleviates or resolves these issues by improving the body's energy flow and restoring balance, thereby enhancing overall well-being.
The body is traversed by 14 meridians (energy pathways). These include the meridians of the Stomach, Lung, Heart, Kidney, Liver, Bladder, Large Intestine, and so on. Each meridian delivers energy to the body's muscles, bones, cells and organs. Psychological stress, injuries, or surgeries can disrupt the energy flow within these meridians, causing blockages that prevent energy from being properly delivered and can lead to pain. Touch for Health works to eliminate these blockages, guiding the body toward health. Furthermore, since each meridian is associated with specific emotions, improving the flow through the meridians helps stabilize emotional fluctuations.
Touch for Health's energy-based adjustment techniques are particularly effective for conditions considered intractable by Western medicine.
Touch for Health includes a healing method called the Fourteen Muscle Adjustment. By setting a purpose and performing the Fourteen Muscle Adjustment, our bodies move towards achieving personal goals which can be about health, happiness, encountering good opportunities, emotional stability, and so on.
