I recently became the co-host of Denebola's News podcast, Denebocast. We promote our podcast on our Instagram account (@denebocast) and use Spotify engagement statistics. I recently started to utilize polls on Spotify. It is a cool way to interact with our audience and understand what people want to hear. We also reach out to teachers and students who we may want to interview and guest on the show. I often try to target well known teachers, athletes, and clubs, because these people will get our podcast the most listens. However, I still love to highlight topics and people that people don't know about. There is a perfect balance of hooking a listener in through something they already know and then teaching them something they may have not known before.
Here's our most recent episode:
Recording an episode with former host and graduate, Brendan Weissel
Myself and my co-hosts, Miles Pearlman and Neil Giesser
I am the current Social Media Manager for Denebola. I post on the Instagram account daily. In my past year being Social Media Manager, the Instagram has gained about 300 followers.
One of my goals was to make myself known through Denebola. I quickly achieved this through Fit Check Friday, and after that, many people affiliated myself with Denebola and content creation. Denebola was able to gain a lot of new creators through social media.
I also constantly utilize features like reposting, tagging, collaboration posts, and stories to keep our audience engaged and in the know about school events. I love to repost Denebola posts through my personal account too in order to spread the word about things through my own connections. This is part of why we have a large audience from outside the Newton South community.
I find that featuring faculty and students makes people more excited about the Instagram account and social media because people love to recognize themselves and their friends! People also interact with the account more when they see someone they know.
