I created a Gynzy on counting money at a 2nd grade level. It includes descriptions of $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 bills and values of coins from pennies to half dollars. It also explains how many of each coin goes into $1. There are also examples of counting money and determining which set of a few sets has the amount of money listed ("Which set has...?"). Feel free to take a look by clicking the button above! Warning - it appears to need you to log in first. Also, above are some screenshots as a preview to what the lesson looks like.
Gynzy is a website in which you can create interactive whiteboard lessons. It works well for interactive boards such as Promethean Boards, Smart Boards, etc. Interactive whiteboard lessons means you can have students work directly on the front board in front of their peers. They can drag pictures/items in matching activities, write on the board (like sentences, math equations, etc.), draw pictures, and so much more! It is a good way to engage students in learning because students remember experiences better (for example, a student can visualize an activity he/she did on the board during a test as a memory strategy).
Gynzy fits into the Danielson Framework in domains 1 (Planning and Prep), 2 (Classroom Environment), and 3 (Instruction). For domain 1, it fits into demonstrating knowledge of resources because using Gynzy means you are aware of interactive lesson-making and know how to teach students using hands-on experiences. For domain 2, it fits into establishing a culture for learning because you are setting up lessons in a way that students can interact directly with and learn from through their and their peers' experiences with the lessons. They are more willing to learn when you can include them in the actual lesson (they build more understanding because interacting on the smart board can be an episodic experience for them). For domain 3, it fits into engaging students in learning because of the same reasons above. You engage students more with hands-on experiences because it allows them to take more control of their learning. They are more eager to learn because they are learning through experiences.
I can see myself using Gynzy in my classroom because interactive presentations tend to be more fun and engaging for students. It is a cool website, and I like that you can create new content and use others' content/revamp content (but give credit to the original creator!). My biggest issue, though, is I don't think the site is very user friendly. It is tough to get to your lessons, and you can't save them to your computer (I tried). It overall is a confusing site despite having some good content ideas/presentations. If I use it again, I will need to see if there are better ways to navigate the site because I had a really rough time with it for this project.
