Satellite event: Music in the Brain

On 2nd November 2021 – the day before the SysMus21 conference – Center for Music in the Brain (MIB) invites all conference attendees to a free half-day event introducing our research center and the research area “music in the brain”.

The event will contain talks and exercises by MIB researchers on the different research topics and methods used at Center for Music in the Brain as well as a tour of our research center and scanning facilities. These include fMRI, MEG and EEG.

The level of the talks and demonstrations will be introductory and are aimed at all attendees of the conference, regardless of background and research interests.

Programme:

  • 12-15:10: Talks by MIB researchers at Center for Music in the Brain, Universitetsbyen 3, 8000 Aarhus C. Talks will include:

    • Peter Keller: From sensory-motor to social processes in rhythmic interpersonal coordination

    • Kira Vibe Jespersen and Victor Pando Naude: Clinical applications of music

    • Tomas Matthews: Tapping – why do we do it?

    • Cecilie Møller and Alexandre Celma Miralles: Beat perception in brain and behaviour

    • Henrique Fernandes: Introduction to fMRI analysis and computational modelling

  • 15:10-16:15 Break and transportation to Aarhus University Hospital, Skejby

  • 16:15-18:15: Tour and demonstration of scanning facilities in Skejby

    • Ole Heggli and Alexandre Celma Miralles: EEG

    • Gemma Fernandez Rubio: MEG

    • Boris Kleber: fMRI

After the event, you can join us in the Student Bar at Aarhus University (Nordre Ringgade 3, 8000 Aarhus C), where it is possible to buy dinner and hang out. We will go there together. Also, they have one of the best selections of beers in Aarhus.

The satellite event is for in-person attendees only.
