The mission of Synapse at Georgia State University is the following:
Establish a powerful peer support group where individuals affected by brain injury can provide social support and educational support to one another.
Provide individuals with brain injury an extra layer of social support through our one-on-one buddy program.
Host a guest speaker series featuring physicians and researchers to share the latest advances in the field of brain injury.
Through such activities, GSU students will be able to join a network of brain injury survivors, caregivers, physicians, researchers, and policymakers to improve how individuals affected by brain injury are being cared for. By leaving such a positive impact on the community, we will ensure students develop the needed skills to be a leader in their community.
The purpose of this organization is to provide college students an opportunity to provide a powerful social support network for individuals with brain injury through the facilitation of peer support groups, a volunteer buddy program, and having planned lecturers by physicians or researchers to spread awareness about brain injury.
