Title: Learning with IoT Devices and Sensors
Abstract: We are surrounded by a number of Internet-connected or IoT devices, such as smartphones, smartwatches, and smart bands. They are often equipped with various sensors, such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, and barometers. They also have wireless transceivers built in which allow users to connect to Wi-Fi and cellular networks, and Bluetooth-enabled devices. The signals from the sensors and radio frequency (RF) signals received (or transmitted) by the IoT devices have been actively leveraged together with recent advances in machine learning for a wide range of applications. In this talk, I will present our recent projects on leveraging and advancing machine learning techniques with IoT devices for several applications, ranging from earthquake detection to indoor applications, such as floor identification, geofencing, and trajectory tracking.
